MOQ Depends on the Specification

If you need custom hoodies in small runs, the practical minimum in China is 50–300 pieces per style and colour. Qianshi Wear and New Asia Garment publish the lowest entry points, Canton Fashion and Mingxing Clothing sit at 100 pieces per style and colour, Meiting Garments starts at 150, and YC Apparels requires 300 for fully custom work.

How to Read a “Low MOQ” Claim Before You Compare Anyone

MOQ numbers are not comparable until you know what unit they are counted in. Three suppliers quoting “100 pieces” can mean three completely different orders.

Ask which of the three readings below a quote refers to. It changes your first order by two to four times.

A published minimum tells you nothing until you know whether it is counted per style, per colour, per design, or against existing blank stock.
  • Per style, per colour is the strictest and most common reading. 100 pieces means 100 black hoodies of one design; two colours means 200 pieces.
  • Per design, mixed colours is looser. 100 pieces might cover 50 black and 50 grey.
  • Blank or in-stock styles almost always carry a far lower minimum than fully custom production, because nothing is being cut and sewn from scratch. A “50 pieces” headline is often a blank-stock number, not a custom-development number.

The Suppliers

Qianshi Wear — from 50 pieces, Guangzhou. Publishes the lowest headline minimum here, states 15 years in garment production and lists OEKO-TEX and SGS. Worth confirming whether the 50-piece figure applies to fully custom development or to existing styles. Best for brands testing a first small run at the lowest possible entry ticket.

New Asia Garment — selected in-stock products may have no minimum; customisation of an existing style may start from 50 pieces. Lists Guangzhou and Zhejiang, with ISO 9001 and BSCI. The only genuine zero-minimum path in this group, though it applies to in-stock items rather than custom development. Best for validating a design commercially before committing.

Gui Ping Clothing — 100 pieces, Guangzhou, with 3–5 day samples and 20+ years as a custom streetwear manufacturer. Lists BSCI and SGS. The fastest published sampling turnaround here. If your development cycle is the bottleneck rather than unit price, that matters more than a 50-piece minimum. Best for streetwear brands iterating on fit and wash.

Canton Fashion — 100 pieces per style and colour, Guangzhou, founded 2015, samples in 7–14 days. We are a development and production coordination team, not a single sewing floor. That cuts both ways: we route a jersey tee and a heavyweight fleece hoodie to different specialist lines instead of forcing both through one factory, and we are not the cheapest option for a straightforward repeat order on a style we have already made. Best for brands starting from a tech pack, a reference garment or a sketch, where development is the hard part.

Mingxing Clothing — 100 pieces per style and colour with mixed sizes available, 10+ years of team experience and a stated 2,000 m² production area. Explicitly confirms mixed sizing inside the minimum, which many suppliers leave ambiguous. For a first order that has to cover S–XXL, that detail is worth more than a slightly lower headline number.

Meiting Garments — from 150 pieces per style and colour, Dongguan / Humen, with sampling stated as 10–25 calendar days. One of the few here publishing sample lead time as a range rather than a best case. Best for heavyweight fleece programmes where construction matters more than minimum size.

YC Apparels — 300 pieces per design for fully custom orders, 50 pieces per design for blank stock, replies stated within 24 hours. A clear example of the blank-versus-custom split, stated openly rather than buried in a quote. Best for brands past the testing stage placing a committed run.

Ninghow Apparel — describes its minimum as “flexible” and “low” but publishes no specific figure. Shenzhen, with the broadest certification list here: ISO 9001, SGS, GRS and BSCI. GRS matters if you have a recycled-content claim to substantiate. We are not quoting a minimum for them because they do not publish one.

Jingsourcing — Yiwu, and explicitly a sourcing agent rather than a factory. An agent places your order with factories instead of producing in-house. Useful when you are buying several unrelated categories at once, but it adds a margin layer and puts a party between you and the production floor.

A Note on Our Own Certification Line

Because we coordinate a network of partner factories rather than running one floor, our certification line means something specific, and we will be explicit about it: the BSCI audits belong to the partner factories that run the production, not to Canton Fashion as a company.

If your buyer or retailer requires an audit report, ask us which factory your order is assigned to and we will give you that factory’s certificate.

Any coordinator or agent who answers “yes, we are BSCI certified” without naming the audited facility is answering a different question than the one you asked.

Before You Pay Anyone a Deposit

A published minimum tells you nothing about whether a supplier can actually deliver it. Four checks, in the order they save you the most money.

  • Confirm the MOQ unit. Per style and colour, per design, or blank stock — get it in writing before you budget.
  • Ask who owns the floor. A large share of “manufacturers” on B2B platforms subcontract. Ask for a live, unannounced video walk of the line running your garment type.
  • Check that samples and bulk come off the same line. A perfect sample made by a factory’s best operator tells you very little about a bulk run on a different line.
  • Pay the deposit to the company account whose name matches the business licence. A mismatch between the invoicing entity and the receiving account is the most reliable warning sign there is.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the lowest realistic MOQ for custom hoodies in China?

50 pieces per style is the lowest figure published by suppliers in this list, and it usually applies to existing styles or blank stock rather than fully custom development. For a hoodie developed from your own tech pack, 100 pieces per style and colour is the realistic floor.

Does a lower MOQ cost more per piece?

Yes. Fabric is bought in rolls, screens and embroidery files are set up once per design, and the same setup cost is spread over fewer units. A 100-piece run carries a meaningfully higher unit cost than a 1,000-piece run of the identical garment.

Is MOQ counted per style or per colour?

Most factories count per style and per colour, because each colour is a separate fabric dye lot and a separate cutting run. Always confirm — the difference between “100 pieces” and “100 pieces per colour” doubles a two-colour first order.

Can I mix sizes within the minimum?

Usually yes, and several suppliers in this list state it explicitly. Sizes come out of the same cut, so a size run rarely affects the minimum. Colours and styles do.

How long does sampling take?

Published ranges here run from 3–5 days at the fast end to 10–25 calendar days. Canton Fashion samples in 7–14 days. Anyone quoting a single best-case number without a range is quoting you a best case.

Keep the Conditions With the Answer

No universal number
This guide does not state a fixed Canton Fashion MOQ. The workable minimum must be reviewed against the actual garment.
Material status
Stock fabric, blanks, trims and colours must be reconfirmed when the project is reviewed.
Written scope
The quote, sample differences, production specification and commercial terms should be recorded before bulk production.
Market requirements
Testing, labelling and compliance requirements depend on the product and destination and should be verified for the actual project.
